Well Owl Be It's Your Birthday!

Found this fun print and cut image at the Silhouette store and had to make a card with it for a friend who has a wacky sense of humor.  I know she will smile when she opens the envelope.  To make the white card base, I opened the image in Silhouette Studio DE, ungrouped the image and the cut line.  Moved the image off  to the side of the mat.    I selected the remaining cut line (the one that was around the image) and used the offset function to create a white border.  Copied it and mirror imaged it to the left.  Aligned both shapes so they were slightly overlapping and merged them.  Then I moved the birthday image onto the right side panel of the card, centered it then grouped the whole thing together.  Turned on cut lines and registration marks, then printed it and cut out the card with my Silhouette Cameo.

My card was inspired by Jin's posts on the Under a Cherry Tree blog.  Offset post idea is HERE.  Card base idea is HERE.

Just pawsing to say hello

Mother nature is dumping a lot of snow on us again so I'm staying indoors and working on cards for the children's charity.  This cute little pup is a precolored digi image from Cuddly Buddly.  I used a sketch from "Inspired by stamping" from last week as my inspiration. I cut out the puppy image with a Spellbinders circle die.  Added some punched dots in the corner and a banner that says "Just pawsing to say hello".

Vintage style card

I always struggle when making Vintage style cards, but I decided to play with some ideas to see what I could come up with.  This stamp is from Coronado Island.  I bought it several years ago, but never used it until today.  I stamped the image onto GP 110# white card stock with Versafine black ink.  Let dry, then cut out image and background layer with Spellbinders Card Creators dies.  Punched the flowers, leaves and fancy corners on the black layer with EK Success punches.  Embossed the white background layer with the Darice Flur de lis folder.  Added some lace plus gems and pearls to the flowers and corners.  Attached image to card base with pop dots.  This is way out of my comfort zone, but it's fun to try out different styles every so often.

Owl Always Love You

It's only 2 degrees outside so I'm staying inside and playing in my craft room today.  While looking through my clear stamps, I found this cute little owl that was one of my impulse purchases last year.  It's one of the Studio G sets that I bought on sale for 50 cents.  It was past Valentine's Day when I bought it, so I stuck it away and forgot about it.  When I discovered it today, I decided to make a card with it.  The owl and saying stamps are in the Studio G set and the branch is from a Stampendous Changito clear set.  I used Colorbox pigment inks and Georgia Pacific white cardstock.  Designer paper is from Basic Grey.  I used sketch 296 from Sketch Saturday as my inspiration.

Warm Wishes

Trying out a new cut file I bought at the Scrappy Dew store.  The file is called Skating Snowmen 2013.  Cut all the colored pieces using Bazzill cardstock.  White cardstock is Neenah 65#.  The blue snowflake print paper is a oldie I found in my stash.  The blades on the skates were too delicate to cut with Bazzill cardstock so I colored them with a silver Sharpie pen.  Tore some white pieces for the snow piles then attached all the pieces to cardbase.  Used pop dots to attach the snowman and the word bubble.  Used a black marker to sketch in the eyes, mouth and buttons on his belly.
